Siriam Sundaram, 42, died Thursday in a two-vehicle wreck on Thursday in south Forsyth County, leaving behind a wife and two young daughters, but community members swiftly rallied around the family in the tragedy's aftermath.

A GoFundMe account started in honor of Sundaram earned more than $150,000 in its first five hours. When the fundraiser closed on Monday morning, it had raised $359,163 by more than 8,000 donors.

"Once again, we cannot find words to express our thanks for your prayers, kindness and support during this tough time," the account stated in an update on Saturday.

Sundaram was in the country on a work visa from India, according to the GoFundMe account. His body is currently being transported overseas for services.

According to a news release from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, at about 6:20 p.m. Thursday night, deputies and firefighters responded to the scene of a wreck between a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado and a 2012 Honda Civic at Peachtree Parkway and Callaway Court, and found one person with serious traumatic injuries.

Authorities believe that the Chevrolet was traveling northbound on Peachtree Parkway pulling a trailer and backhoe when it struck the Honda, which was turning left into Callaway Court from Peachtree Parkway southbound.

The driver of the Honda, later identified as Sundaram, was transported by ambulance to North Fulton Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

“The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Specialist Unit,” the release states.

This traffic fatality marks the second that has occurred within the county during 2019.
