Freedom Tabernacle Church celebrated its 25th anniversary on December 14 in Forsyth County and commemorated the milestone with a luncheon and service.
Nearly 350 people attended, both new and established parishioners, with an additional 300 children present in the kid’s service.
Church leadership say building community is essential to their mission.
“We're here not to be a social club,” said Lead Pastor Robbie Mathis. “We're here to be a blessing and a light to the community.”
During the service, Mathis revealed the publishing of his first book, “The Faithfulness of God,” written about his personal journey with Christ, the construction of the church and the creation of community.
“We just want to be a part of that and to do whatever God asks us to do, to do whatever it takes to reach the unreachable and the hurting,” said Executive Pastor Jonathan Bennett.
Pastor Mathis founded Freedom Tabernacle Church in December of 2000. A year later, Bennett and his wife launched the children’s ministry.
“God started this ministry, and it'll be God who will continue it,” said Mathis.
Since then, the church has expanded and established two new locations in Ball Ground and Dahlonega.
“I'm so thankful and appreciative to God for all the lives that have been impacted, " said Mathis. “For the hundreds of people that have given their lives to Jesus Christ, that got born again, that got saved, for many that have been healed, and for the marriages that have been restored.”
